Roman Backgammon by EOZ Games – Review

More articles

Roman Backgammon by EOZ Games is an easy to use app which allows the user to play in one player or two player modes. The app features a beautifully designed gameboard with the goal of moving all of your stones around the board in a counter clockwise motion with the spaces that you can move highlighted when you touch the various stones. The app incorporates easy to understand directions as well as basic history of the game.
The imagery and realistic sounds help this app to feel like you are playing on a real board instead of using an iPad as I did for my review. The app also allows you to set it up via the GameCenter feature of the iPad allowing you to play against other users. This app helps to promote strategy and thinking with the goal of getting all of your stones back into the box after moving them around the board. I also liked that you could choose music from your iTunes library to play in the background.

I had never played Roman Backgammon prior to downloading this app, so I used it as an opportunity to teach myself. I would have liked to see a “teach me” mode incorporated into the app which would have helped lessen the learning curve.
This is a great app for teenagers, parents and those who want to use the app for multiplayer games. It really forced me to think strategically when placing my stones in an effort to beat the computer.
