Reviewed by Mary – The first Larry Lizard app is Lazy Larry. In this story Larry is trying to sleep but every time he falls asleep the narrator asks you to poke him. When you do so Larry gets up and runs away to find a new resting place. I feel quite sorry for Larry in this tale, as it seems like the poor guy is never going to get any rest. Eventually he gets to sleep on a rock in the sun, and the you stroke him to help him go to sleep. The app also includes the Leaping Larry game where the you help Larry to jump over various objects in his path (which can be quite challenging!)

Reviewed by Mary – The second app in the series is Look Out Larry– Larry is again trying to sleep, but all sorts of dangers are coming near – from a spider to a bulldozer to a bush fire. By poking Larry you wake him up, so he can run away to safety. When Larry finally finds a safe place he falls asleep and dreams. You then have the option to watch Larry’s dream -it is another happier version of the same story, which my kids really enjoyed. There is also a matching game included.

Reviewed by Mary – Lost Larry by Graham Nunn, is the third in the series of apps staring Larry Lizard from Australian developer Wasabipro. It is an iPad only app. All three apps feature read to me or read by myself options. The stories are told in rhyming verse and are beautifully illustrated. The soundtracks feature animal sounds, evoking the feel of being in The Outback. The stories are read by an Australian narrator and professionally animated. They are very interactive with Larry responding to being touched.

Reviewed by Mary – Ten Giggly Gorillas by Graham Nunn is an iPad only app from Australian developer Wasabi Productions – creators of the Larry Lizard apps. It starts with 10 gorillas hanging out in a tree in the jungle, and then counts them down from 10 to 1. Each page has fun rhyming text describing one of the gorillas, and if the child tickles the right one (who is highlighted) he/she will respond and laugh so much they fall out of the tree.
