News – The Language Express Readies New Web-Based Social Skills Program

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) January 25, 2013 — The Language Express, makers of The Social Express®, is pleased to announce that a new Web-based version of its social skills learning program is coming soon.

The Social Express, winner of the SIIA Innovation Incubator Award in Ed Tech, is an interactive program that targets core deficit areas that stand in the way of school, social, and life success for children and young adults with social learning challenges.

Marc Zimmerman, CEO, said, “We’re so humbled by the community of parents, professionals and teachers that have gathered around The Social Express. We’re thrilled to be able to convert our social skills learning software into an Internet-based program. The upcoming Web-based, subscription version makes it easier for us to reach many more children and young adults who need help learning and practicing social skills. We want to help as many kids as possible to better interact with others.”

Families, Professionals and School Districts will be able to access the new Web-based version of The Social Express from all desktop computers, laptops and selected mobile devices. The new program retains the wonderful characters that users love and offers the same interactive learning environment for children to use along with their parents, teachers and speech language professionals.

Parents, school districts and professionals who become members of the new Internet-based program from The Social Express will be able to create custom learning plans around their children’s needs for social skill improvement. They’ll also have access to new content each month and the popular built-in teaching tips.

Jon Cornick, President and COO, said, “We developed the Web-based version to make it easier for children who need help with social skills to learn, connect and engage. One example, ‘The Clubhouse’, is a new private social network exclusively for children registered in The Social Express program. Inside The Clubhouse they can engage with each other while practicing the very skills they have learned in The Social Express. The goal is for them to generalize these new skills and ultimately make friends. The Clubhouse provides a safe and fun environment for this, and there is even a Parent Login for observing the child’s progress.”

Cornick added, “We’re developing exciting new tools and ways for kids to get involved with both learning and practicing social skills in our upcoming version of The Social Express. We invite our community of parents, educators and professionals to stay tuned to our exciting announcements. “

Since beginning in November of 2011, The Social Express has received wide support and heartwarming testimonials. Stories of progress and success have poured in from Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs), parents and teachers of children diagnosed with Asperger’s, ADHD, autism and related disorders who have found help using the program.

The Social Express is an interactive video-modeling, social skills learning and education for autism program. Parents, professionals, and educators of special needs children like the high-quality, Hollywood-style animation that holds their attention without over stimulation. They also like the scenes that reinforce the best choices for kids to make in social situations.

News – Patterns Match Basic 1.0 released for iPad – Pattern Recognition

[prMac.com] Lexington, Massachusetts – KidsAndBeyond today is pleased to introduce Patterns Match Basic 1.0 for iPad. Patterns are everywhere. Learning to recognize them at an early age is a mathematical skill that carries into high school Algebra!

In Patterns Match Basic, children are taught through a practice and a play mode. In the practice mode, they are given a pattern string to study the pattern and then fill in the missing blanks of the same pattern string. In the play mode, they are asked to fill in the blanks without a completed pattern string to look at. This toggling between practice and play makes the app a great teaching tool for the concept of pattern recognition. Children will also enjoy the choice of object categories for the pattern strings, and for SimpleSort users, these will be familiar images.

The game has an option to add up to 50 users, making this an app for an entire classroom. The color coded Progress Check screen that keeps track of the top ten times is a great way for teachers and parents to encourage each child to improve against his/her own time thereby taking away the stress of competition.

Patterns Match Basic includes:
* A practice and a play mode
* A timer for the play mode
* 6 levels of play that get slightly more challenging as the level increases
* A narration for each screen that guides the user
* A progress check screen that keeps track of the top ten times
* Capability to support up to 50 users

Device Requirements:
* iOS 4.3 or later
* Compatible with iPad
* 26.5 MB

Pricing and Availability:
Patterns Match Basic 1.0 is $1.99 USD (or equivalent amount in other currencies) and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Education category.

Sesame Workshop Partners with Sourcebooks to Bring Beloved Sesame Street Friends to the Put Me In The Story Personalized Children’s Book Platform

CHICAGO – January 15, 2013—Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit educational organization behind Sesame Street, and Sourcebooks, a leading independent publisher and developer, announce the forthcoming addition of two Sesame Street books to Put Me In The Story, the innovative, personalized children’s book iPad app and website launched by Sourcebooks in November.  The beloved classic Elmo Loves You will be the first Sesame Street book to launch on the platform.

Put Me In The Story, as seen in the New York Times and Christian Science Monitor, takes nationally bestselling children’s picture books by celebrated and award-winning authors, and integrates personalization—creating personalized books that make your child the star of treasured children’s stories.  Elmo Loves You is one of Sesame Workshop’s bestselling children’s books, and is being made available for the first time in personalized form.

“We are always looking for meaningful ways to enhance parent-child engagement in the digital arena, so we are especially excited to partner with Sourcebooks to create our first personalized storybooks on an app platform. Put Me In The Story increases a child’s engagement and enjoyment by bringing children directly into the story, where they are part of the narrative alongside their favorite Sesame Street characters,” said Jennifer A. Perry, Vice President, Worldwide Publishing, Sesame Workshop.

“We built Put Me In The Story to create greater bonding through and with books, and to change how kids grow with books.  Sesame Workshop’s mission of using the educational power of media to help children everywhere reach their highest potential is completely aligned with what we’re aiming to accomplish with Put Me In The Story,” says Dominique Raccah, CEO and publisher of Sourcebooks. “We are overjoyed to announce Sesame Workshop as our first publishing partner.”

The Put Me In The Story app on the iPad is available on the App Store for free.  Elmo Loves You will be available in February as an in-app purchase for $4.99.  Custom print book orders will be available at www.putmeinthestory.com, and are priced at $32.99.  Recently added to the app and website are My Name Is Not Isabella and My Name Is Not Alexander, the New York Times bestselling picture books by Jennifer Fosberry.
