Auditory Memory Ride by Virtual Speech Center Inc. was designed for children ages 6-13 years old with Central Auditory Processing Disorder or related disorders. Children with these issues have difficulty retaining and recalling information they have heard.
This app includes more than 1000 stimuli with pre-recorded audio, and the ability to introduce background noise. There are both recognition and recall items with the ability to delay the presentation of the stimuli.
The delay options range from no delay to a 5, 10 or 15 second delay. Children need to retain and recall what they heard. Items include digits and numbers (9 levels), words and sentences 10 levels), details (4 levels), or paragraphs (6 levels).
There are many settings for this app, including: enable/disable sound, choose correct/incorrect sound, enable/disable reward, auto paging, show text, random paging, show score, enable background noise, background noise volume, choice of background noise, and delay of stimuli. Data can also be backed up and restored. On the front page you can choose to play game to start, so kids learn quickly play game gets the game without the work. Goals can be selected individually, and you can also select multiple goals or select all. Under each goal the therapist can choose which items are to be presented in the same way. I like that initially you can work in order to teach goals in a hierarchy, but that as student progresses items can be presented randomly. This app would also be good for adults who need memory practice.
The app includes a fun reward game, where you fly an airplane collecting coins and avoiding crashing into all sorts of flying objects. You can choose how much work is needed before they get to play, and how long they can play for.
Reports can be sorted by goal or date. You have to remember which goals have been chosen or worked on as it lists all goals and you have to touch each to see results. By date will show you the date for as many goals as you attempted that date. Report can be emailed but only for one item at a time. This is useful if you want to see score to put in your notes for the day but takes along time if you want to send results to parents and requires more than one email. If I could change one part of this app it would be the reports area. I would love to know by looking which goals have been worked on instead of having to go into each, especially if you have chosen the random option. I would also like to be able to choose more than one item in both goal and date option to place all into one email.
Overall, this is a great app to target auditory memory! I love the types of activities, the many levels in each section, and that it goes all the way up to paragraphs. It is very customizable, making for a very versatile app that suits a variety of clients. The game is very motivating for the youngest clients up to the oldest, a fun Auditory Memory Ride!

****Auditory Memory Ride is a great tool I will use on a regular basis because it is flexible (I can easily control what it does for each specific child), entertaining, and hierarchical in its skill building.
